Maryna Yurasova "Mlada" is a spring breath in Ukrainian contemporary music!
Mlada’s work reflects specific perspective on the Ukrainian folklore which, in the synthesis with other contemporary music trends, defines her style as "Ethno Fantasy Music".
“Songs performed by Mlada are newly discovered Ukrainian folk music which acquired new hues and aromas to play up, performed with incredible warmth and mastery.” - Yurek Kruk.
“I would call the released disk "Oy vesna, vesna" 2005 (Oh spring, spring) a quiet sensation. Mlada’s refined way of treating the folk music draws attention of public, her voice sounds archaic and modern at the same time. Her open attitude to Ukrainian music primary sources is rejoicing. In fact, this is the first work based completely on Ukrainian authentic folk material, which arouses great optimism with regard to development of the “proper” national music” (Alexey Kogan, music critic and radio host).
The album has got radio rotation in Canada, United States, Great Britain, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Japan and other countries where it was recognized as first of its kind serious Ukrainian project.
“No one before Mlada has attempted to synthesize Ukrainian folk melody with contemporary music trends in such a high quality level”.
